Hey a belated eid mubarak to all.aiysha i'm finally going to start to study from tomorrow inshallah.Don't really know how to start, but atleast i'll open a book, hopefully. .Anyways good luck all of you and pray that i might actually start.I was supposed to start from the 1st of Dec. smiling face

Hi...
Actuallly the Ca+2 and H+ ions compete for attachment on proteins, whenever there is hypocalcemia there are less calcium on proteins so more free H+ ions attach on proteins decreasing the free H+ ion concentration, thus causing alkalosis.
Conversely, Inc. Ca"+2 decreases the sites for H+ attachment , thus causing inc. levels of free H+ ions thus causing acidosis.
Cares.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me whether acute transplant rejection is an example of type 4 or type 2 hypersenstivity reaction? and helminthic infestation is ...type 1 or type 2 hypersenstivity reaction?
thanks

  #38

The Helminthic infestation leads to Type 1 Hypersensitivity and about the transplant rejection, The hyperacute that occurs within mins to hours is an example of type 2 , wheras the acute rejection reaction is an example of type 4 , what do u say ?

  #39

I have started doing Pathology , Anyone doing the same ?

  #40

ASA,
I agree with you gul,Its right.
Well iam doing pathology too.Started with general pathology.
Here are questions,if you could answer:

absolute neutrophilic leukocytosis is seen in:
a) endotoxic shock
B)viral pneumonia
C)bronchial asthma
D)cushings syndrome
E)SLE

"Report of toxic granulation and left shift "on a peripheral smear describes a pt .with:
a)allergic rhinitis
B)acute appendicitis
C)whooping cough
D)rheumatoid arthritis
E)pin worm infestation.

  #41

Thanks
Well, the answer to the 1st question should be 'a' while toxic granulations and left shift should be seen in acute appendicitis ...

so in how many days , do u plan to do Patho ?

  #42

answer this one:
In which condition do the spleen has calcified nodules(gandy Gamma Nodules) ?

  #43

Hi,
Thanks.
The answer to the first question seems to be cushings syndrome. The book says that corticosteroids decrease adhesion molecule synthesis, resulting in an incrase in circulating neutrophils.Endotoxins increase adhesion molecule...hence decrease neutrophil count.
Well i think i must do it within this month, iam also doing pharma and micro along with it.
What about you, what have you planned?

  #44

Is is seen in portal hypertension secondary to cirrhosis, where calcium and iron is deposited in fibrous tissue of spleen known as gandy gamma bodies.

Here are few more question:
In which condition mallory bodies are seen?

Disorder with black nonmelanin pigment deposition is...
A) addison's disease
B) nevocellular nevus
c) black lung disease
D) malignant melanoma
E)adrenogenital syndrome.

  #45

Thanks Asmi, i never thought about it smiling face)) Well, i plan to do patho (gen, special , Micro) with some time for pharma everyday , plus beh. sci , afterwards .... so keep in touch
