29 y/o woman at 25 weeks of gestation, diagnosed with chronic hepatitis due to HCV, monogamous with her husband, pregnancy is otherwise uncomplicated. Which of the following precautions she should take ? A. Avoid breast feeding after birth B. Schedule C section at delivery C. Use condom when engages sex with her husband D. Vaccination to HAV & HBV if not already immune E. Treatment with Interferon & ribavirin

anser: D. breast feeding, Csection have not considerably found to decrease any risk of transmission, and ribavirin is a teratogenic drug. NOTE: interferon is beneficial and benefits outweigh risks, it may be given antenatally.

i agree with D (itīs the answer given in UW). About C, i donīt know, maybe itīs because itīs not very cost-effective when the patient has a monogamous relationship, i mean, only 1 sexual partner they say the risk of infection is very low, so maybe thatīs the reason. Itīs more necessary and important the D.
