15 month old child can have both strangers as well as separation anxiety but what I think it depends on the circumstances in which the child as been exposed. I think Aleka is right since the case presents with a child who is happy at home and cries in day care centre hence it is separation anxiety. If the case would be in the presence of the mother the child cries when exposed to strangers then it would be strangers anxiety.

Can somebody help in getting a correct answer ?

it is stranger anxiety, UW say that the same circomstence at an older child can be a separation disorder.
