Hello Psychiatric Community, fellow students, doctors, and the others sticking out tongue I am new here on the forum but I have an important advice to ask of you guys. I am currently in my first year of university and am (planning to) major in Psychology. I am much into clinical work and my main concern now is to decide whether I should continue in the field of Psychology or take aditional courses and go into Psychiatry. I feel this to be the right time to make this decision since it is early in my career and I have, I am sure, many years ahead at university. So as you can see I am sort of debating as to which direction I should take. Psychologist or Psychiatrist? (and yes I do realize the latter takes a lot more work).

Thus, my question to you guys is how is Psychiatry? Do you/did you enjoy studying it? Would you recommend going into it? And any other relevant information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance, I really appreciate your help.

i think a major consideration for u is whether u want to do medicine or not...if u want to do psychiatry, u have to do medicine first ie. obtain an MD.Psychology does not require that.
