I am an IMG, I have set up electives as I am a final yr student, not yet graduated, these electives will be graded, however my school just requires completion of 1 clinical yr. The Question is; Where do these electives go under the eras format? is it under volunteer exp or med edu(which there is no space?) how about observerships or externships wher do they go on the eras? how will the program directors come about to see this important USCE prior to interview experience? thank you

hi bhagat, i guess you can put it under volunter experience, and you postition as an extern i guess..............and of course Your US LORs that you get out of this experience is also gonna speak up in your applications.............................. get mentioned in your US LOR that this was a "Hands On" US clinical experience.........

hey sharvil thanks for the reply, so what your saying is put all my electives and observershps under volunteer exp, i dont want my electives to be confused with the observerships. im doing 20 wks of electives, and you can only submit 3-4 lors. if you have anymore input please let me know. if you put postion as extern is it assumed it is hands on? this is important since observerships nowadays are not worth anything, i hear. an lor from an observership has no weight, is this true?
