hi all,
wanted to start a post for all those applying specifically to Peds Programs. this would help to disseminate info about the responses from various programs and exchange notes about scheduling of interviews and requirements of the program overall.
hope everybody will contribute.
i have applied to 30 peds programs 2 days back only. got one call maimonides NY so far. my scores are Step 1 - 95 (236), Step 2CK - 90 (221)

hey guys, good thread drivic, can you give us more background info? like do u have USCE? ECFMG certificate? scores?...
i am also applying to peds, did so only two hours ago, selected twenty prog. so far. i have my fingers crossed for the best.

i'm going to call them today. i'd asked if they were interviewing in October since i'm coming to US in Mid-Oct for my Step2CS. but they said no (by e-mail).
what should be the latest time to which i can safely push back the interviews? i'm asking this coz i'll have to take leave from my hospital here for making another trip to the US to attend all the interviews. so i need to push it as far back as possible. what do you guys say? or is it that mid-oct is a bad time to give CS...but then i have to do it as early as possible to get my results and ECFMG certification in time for the match....this is what you call a classical CATCH - 22 Situation 
i didn't apply for crozer chester. didn't know anything about it...what is it like, besides obviously being an IMG friendly program? usmlevikki can shed some light on this...

hey springd i did mention my scores but i have no USCE...but i have lots of experience in Peds and a decent number of publications (13 in all) and also good LORs (non-US again), but can't say what moves the program directors to choose one IMG over another....since most programs interview 5 to 10 times the number of positions available, so a lot depends on the interview also. but u need to get selected first for an interview....but that's just like putting a foot in the doorway, the rest gets in if the program director opens the door for you after the interview....

Maimonides, LICH & bronx lebanon. i have scheduled my interview in the end of November. is it too late to schedule interviews??

I have applied to 15 programs. no reponse from any of them yet, neither interview nor rejections. quite anxious!
should I call them myself to see which way it's gonna go???

I applied to crozer-chester as they are IMG FRIENDLY. I was advised that its a good program but not much to go on. I am trying to find that out. By the way how is maimonides? i scheduled my interview in last week of november. drvic you shopuld be fine in january for interview.

will try and cluster all my interviews in the same region around the same time. so let's wait and watch for now...
Crozer Chester is a community hospital, right? its not on th university programs' list...anyway i've applied already...
but its got a reasonable number of indians in the faculty

i was a bit apprehensive applying for programs down south, because of the unfortunate happenings due to hurricane katrina and now hurricane Rita. couldn't be sure how things might turn out...god bless us all.
can't say anything about Univ Maryland, wasn't on my list

hi everybody/fellow peds applicants,
any recent developments? i guess it was the weekend so things will swing into action from now on...hopefully.
meanwhile can't seem to resist the temptation to apply for a few more programs....especially as i hear other people getting calls from programs i hadn't applied to...i've already applied to 30, mostly IMG friendly ones. so just holding on for now....anybody else facing the same dilemma?

I know the temptation about not applying for more, seeing that so many ppl are sending in 100s of them. As I just want to do Peds and not any other speciality, I have applied to 60 peds programs just to feel safe.

i too want to do peds only, but you've applied to 60 programs...and i've applied to just half your number!!! 
i think i'll have to do something now...with no more calls so far except for one...i'm really getting on the edge... would you be willing to share each other's list of programs applied to...please pm me.

ok people, i got an interview Sinai Baltimore! Am happy cause i just applied friday. feels great until the rejections come. so far only applied to 20 programs myself drivic, am planning to add 10 more, hopefully we'll get more invitations.

is it true that most interview calls come in late October or November coz all the american grads get their documents released around that time and then apply....
i heard that from somebody and was wondering if i should just wait....or apply to a few more programs.....riding high on the horns of a DILEMMA...

Yes its true. many big universities to which i am sure you have applied with your good credentials will start sending their invites mid-late october.Problem of applying at too many places with your credential may be that you will get confused by prematch offers that you may get early before even some good programs reply. NUmber of applications is always an individual thing so it all depends on you.
