I really did fail Step 1 twice and will have to take a year off from school. It seems that it is going to take me 6 yrs to finish med school. I am so disappointed... I feel embarassed and have no idea of what I need to do now. I bought Kaplan books, did the online questions, used First Aid and mostly all the other BRS books. My score was a 178 the first time and 173 during the second round. Does anyone have any suggestions for me or is anyone facing the same/similar predicament. Looking for a study partner too.

Don't lose heart mimijay. I know it is very hard and disapppointing. But may be you can use this time to sit back and assess where you went wrong. There are many people who pass after a few times. If you have time and the money may be you could take the kaplan course. Otherwise do a diagnostic test, see which areas are weakest and then try to concentrate on that. It is probably best to stick to same books. if you do just kaplan which is what I did, stick to that and revise over and over again. do as many questions as you can. register online for qbank.
it's easy for me to say all this when I know you are going through so much. But have faith and you will do just fine.

i highly advice-Goljan lectures-i knew them really well,didn't do a single question-at all,didn't finish kaplan books-and passed the test.but you have to know those lectures REALLY REALLY WELL-not just learn them by heart-but understand it.and i can guerantee-you'll do well.but don't forget to read other material and do questions-it will help.

If you have the money, I would go ahead and take the live lecture Kaplan course. It is really helpful and they give you a lot of study techniques, also don't feel embarrassed, this is a really hard exam, and it's brave to even study for this exam and take it. So please don't get to down on yourself, you'll do it, it may take a little extra time, but just remember, God works in mysterious ways, and we just need to take this life as a game and go along with it. Good luck and take care. You'll be fine....and a big applause for going at this exam again!!!!
