Yes, you need CSA to get the J1 visa. Without CSA, you can't get ECFMG certification - without that certification, you can't get the visa.

Hi,

following question - CSA is now Step 2 CS, so that means Step 2 CS is a requirement for J-1?
If I take Step 1 in half a year, how long will it be valid for (because I know I MUST have a valid ECFMG certificate upon requesting of J-1)?

Thanks
Balig :P
