Hello. I am an IMG, will be doing my STEP 2 CS in October the 3rd. This is my last exam for ECFMG certification. HOWEVER, the shocking and very distressing news I read on the USMLE website is that the they have extended the time for the results for examinees during October and November.. might be 12 weeks or more instead of the usual 8 weeks.
so now i have to wait for both my CS result and my ECFMG certification.
Does anyone who has had experience with this process know if my chances are good for catching the match??
I would appreciate your opinion!

hey i'm taking the CS a good 2 weeks after you guys, i'm keeping my fingers crossed about the results too.
i was hoping that i might get my CS result by mid-Dec, so i may make another trip to US - take Step3 and my interviews in that trip. but without CS results, this may not be possible...
feeling frustrated about this coz i just wasted time at the beginning of the year when i could have pulled myself up and should've prepared harder than i did. anyway can;t do anything now....

Thanks you guys. It seems I'm not the only one worrying about this.
I guess the CS exam should be really planned for ahead of time, especially for IMGs. I didn't do that, because I wanted to finish STEP 1 and 2 first.
Drzoyakapoor, I don't think you're going to have the problem I'm having as you will be doing your exam outside the period of "extended results" which is October or November. I wouldn't worry if I were you, you will perhaps get your results late Nov/early Dec.
For the rest of us, like me and drvic, let's just hope! like skdoc said. (thanks for the encouragement)...

i´m in the same boat, i´ll do 2cs in november 8. We are gonna try it, i hope it results!

I think I'm correct in saying that you don't actually need your ECFMG certificate to successfully match. The match system checks to see if you have your results for USMLE 1, 2cs and 2ck and as long as those are there, you are allowed to match. As long as you have completed all of your exams by the end of Dec, you should be in time to match.

what r u fellows worried about?? i just took cs dec 6th and was gonna take ck on dec 27. may take it jan 16 or 18. even if i postpone i will b in the match unless i am one of those rare cases were results take 6 weeks. what i read was u have to have all ur paperwork ready with scores feb 22 and be certified on match day.
i have 3 interviews so far. my question is does it make a difference b/w the 2 dates on how many more interviews i get and my ranking?

also i noticed many people did not apply on time because they thought u needed all ur scores which is bs. u dont even need a personal statement to apply. ( u should send it early so u get intvites.) u just need to get a token and fill out ur CAF to apply. this and my above post need to be made a sticky for next year.
