Hi everybody,

I have a plan to match this year. I'm interested in radiology. How much it competitive? need high score? need permanent residency? I'm IMG and waiting my Ck result & plan to sit Cs next month.

thanks

Very competitive, very IMG non-friendly. Need the highest scores available.

Good luck!

Hi,

I am an IMG working in UK. Graduated in 98, done 4yrs of Peds. Would like to apply for radiology. I know the competition is tough, but is it almost next to impossible for an old graduate like me?? Or do I stand a small chance? May be in the post match scramble?? Any information appreciated. Thanks in advanve.sticking out tongue

yeah radiology is definitely IMG non friendly. if you are an IMG your only real chance is internal medicine in a community program.

  #9

its damn tough,,,,,,,,my friend has scores of 256/99 and 267/99 and is certified, with GC,

working in U. Maryland as a research assistant in radiology dept of Uni. of Maryland,

with LOR from Faculty of U. Maryland Radiology Dept.

still got no interviews for radiology....................even from U. Maryland.....................

very very conservative field, practically impossible for IMGs......

Radiology, Anesthesia, .....are difficult but not impossible.

I believe you should prepare your parkage as required, chech each program's requirement and apply for those you meet the requirements. You hardly would know what they can find interesting in you application.

I visited an indian attending yesterday in UMass General/Radiology, Boston. There were many indian IMG's working there as residents. I stoped believing people when they say very IMG non-friendly and bla bla bla. Everything is possible! even in UMass General.

I know atleast a couple of people who have got radiology fellowships after having done their residency outside us ie europe, uk, india

Everyone knows a few. Correct. I know lots of Indians/Asians in Radiology. Only a couple went overseas to school.

Always going to be exceptions.

Good luck to all trying for this field.

is Anesthesia as difficult as radiology?

  #16

bbb,

Kindly help. what else is reqd other than High scores , to increase the chances? any programs which are comparatively IMG friendly as far as radiology is concerned?

thx

with two years of US research EXPERIENCE....anything is possible....

many are trying the other way round.imgs done residency in their home country in radiology are coming and joining fellowships.if they work total 0f 4 yrs they will be board eligible and certified.this is the best and easy way.more over your foreign degree is valid here and need not redo the residency here.
