You know your patient who got HIV, but he does not tell his partner & have sex relation with her.

What do we do in this case ?

First we encourage him to tell partner...if he plain refuses then we have to break confidence and notify any involved partners (it's a case of harm to self or others)

sorry guys hope i am not confusing you at this last moment but i read it somewhere that hiv reporting is not mandatory but aids is!!!!! is that true?

I think itīs different, the answer in this case is what Nisha said. And the reason is that his wife is in danger of a life threatening infection.

That of AIDS is mandatory to report to the state authorities and HIV isnīt, is NOT related with the confidentiality, is not related with ethics, is a different issue.

reportable diseases

AIDS, syphillis, measles, mumps, rubella, salmonella, shigella, tb, hep A, hep B, chicken pox and gonorrhea
