Do we ask the recommender to send the LOR directly to ECFMG/ERAS or ask them to send to us then send with other documents to ECFMG/ERAS? Also, we need to include the cover letter for each LOR either way, right?

Ask them to send the LOR directly to ERAS if you have waived your rights to see the letters. You need a cover letter for each LOR which you can mail to your letter writers.

The other way would be to get them to send the LORs to your home so that you can attach the cover letters to each LOR. Be sure not to open the envelopes if you had waived the right to see the letter. Otherwise, you may open the letter and read them before sending them to ERAS.

I think it's better to waive the right of seeing the letters, right? Under this situation, is it better if I ask the recommender to send the letter to me? since I can combine the documents together and mail to ERAS?

Another question, can I email the empty LOR cover letter (from the documents section of the ERAS) and ask the recommender to print and fill it out? should they include the cover letter inside the envelove of LOR or leave it outside?

final question, apart from the LOR sent to ERAS, should we also keep an sealed copy to bring to the interview?

Thank you very much!

Hi Hamidi,
U obviously did not waive ur right to see ur LORs.SO relax u neednt add the cover letter. It is needed when the letter writers post their LORs directly to the ERAS.I was in the same dilemma after I posted my documents but they are uploaded and everything seems to be fine.
Good Luck

Hamidi, sk doc, I did the same thing, just mailed my LOR myself with my Dean's letter and photo etc. Any idea how long it takes for the post office to upload them? Where do we see that they're recieved? (god i hope they're not lost!)

yeah i too wanted to know whether my LORs have been uploaded or not. ever since i submitted my application, i've seen that my dean's letter, transcripts, photo and all have been uploaded to the Post Office but none of the LORs have been uploaded so far. i'd sent them all together so if the rest of the documents are there, why is there no mention of LORs?

in fact one remark on the site says - your LORs will not be visible till you assign them to programs and apply to those programs...i've already done that but i still don't see the LORs.

please help
