u do a surgery on a lady to do tubal ligation. when u poen u find, she has a malignant ovarian tumour, what will u do 1.remove the tumour while the patient is still under anasthesia 2.discuss the patients options after she gets up from the operation 3.ask the husband for consent 4.ask the hospital adminstration for permission 5.call ina gynaecologic oncologist to remove the tumour while the patient is still under anasthesia

well thanks but my confusion is, is it not an emergency, where we have opened, so dont we just remove the tumour without the consent or u thinkk its not an emergency

I think what is meant by emergency is a matter of "life & death", eg. massive hemorrhage, acute appendicitis, massive myocardial infarction, stroke..... in other words, where "minutes" can determine the prognosis. This pt. will not die of u simply do the tubal ligation then close up the abdomen and get consent. Although Ovarian Cancer has poor prognosis but treatment can wait another day to get consent and have pt. determine her treatment plan. I hope that clarifies the point.
