Hello to everybody!

i joined this website few days ago and didn't introduce myself yet.So:

i'm 2002 IMG,have step 1 passed(very low-79%),just got result from CS-passed.and now i want to try to take CK.i have only 2 months.do you think this is enough?

my plan is:

1.read kaplan books once

2.do kaplan q book

3.read kaplan books for 2nd time

4.do q-bank

5.read the book for the 3rd time

6.do UW

7.the week befor exam just review FIRST AID-i'm reading it in parallel with kaplan books.

i also have kaplan video hightlights-will wathch them not more than 2 times.

Do you think with this study plan i have a chance to have a decent score?-i'm planning to go in the mid november.

And one more question-do you think i have a chance for match 2006-i'll be able to apply only in november......

Will appreciate all your replies.

Alenka, you asked if 2 months is enough....but you didnt tell us how many hours you plan to study, two months are enough maybe if you study 12-14 hours a day.... about your study plan it is good enough...but my personal opinion is that 2 months r not enough to do all that....i'd restrict myself to Kaplan books (twice) QBank (1st Month) and UW (2nd month) and review Step 2 Secrets, and NMBE 1 week before, but again that's my personal opinion...smiling face
About the match i understand that the deadline is in December if you have your scores before that you can apply. But remember the sooner you apply the better chances...

Good Luck Dr.

i study 11-14 hours per day.

about match-can i apply without having my step 2 results back?and again-you said the deadline is in december-in the beginning or in the end-see-i don't know even elementary stuff....

2 months is too little,but i don't have a choice-phinancial problems,you know.and if i find a job-i definately won't be able to study as much as i do now-i'm afraid to forget all that i've learned.

and i'm planning to take NBME twice-in the middle of october-to see my weak points and then in the beginning of november to see if i've made progress.the problem is-i can't postpone it-cause i already did it and my deadline is december.

The match deadline application is until beginning of December(not 100% sure) as i took all my test in order i can't tell you if you can apply or not without CK, but one thing i can tell you, most of residency programs ask an average of 80-85 ( sum of step 1 and CK) to consider you for an interview, that means that you have to at least know your CK score unless you want to go blind to the application process hoping that you will get that score. So you can study as hard as you can to try to reach that average (seems like you will smiling face ) and dont feel alone in your situation, almost every IMG (including me) has had difficulties (financial, time, kids, etc) in this painfull path. So cheer up Alenka, and go for it, your plan is pretty reasonable and statistics say that you will do it......smiling face

thank you.

i'll post my score for q-book as soon as i'll be done with it.

what percentage should i get on q book and q-bank-at least minimum-in order to say that my preparation is going well?

i think your study program is good alenka, enough to get a decent or very decent score, 2 months studying and 11-14 hrs per day can be enough, too. But you shouldn´t rest any day, no rests. Good luck!

Alenka,

2 months is more than enough. Most people I know study for Step 2 CK for 2 weeks...

Read Kaplan books once, and do questions the rest of the time. Kaplan books is just to review the material you already know, and questions will solidify the concepts.

Good luck!

Rather than re-read Kaplan, you should concentrate on your weak subjects.... For step one, I read psych only once, but read anatomy 5-6 times... Don't go through the course more than twice at most. After that, Concentrate only on your weak areas/subjects... Pick your weakest subject and keep on reading it until you are an expert on it, then go on to your next weakest... There's no point in reading material that you already know. All of us are deficient in certain subjects, and it's much easier to improve your scores on your bad subjects, than hope for the good subjects to rescue you.

Is there a book for step 2 CK which is equivalent to the board simulator series of step 1?
