I did some research as a medical consultant for the computer science department of a well known university in US (they are writing software for the medical field); the director of the department gave me an excellent letter, probably my best LOR, due to his vast experience of writing LOR. I also have a letter from the US doctor ; I have been shadowing her for 4 months now, the letter is very enthusiastic but rather short.I also have letters from my country. My credentials are: certified/237/241 and I'm applying to Internal Med. Should I use the letter from the computer science professor? I would be grateful for your opinion. Thank you for the wonderful effort to help us.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply! My hesitation came from the fact that Iserson’s book mentioned such letters from people in fields other than medicine as counter-productive.

Not really - my PD would rather see letters from people who really KNOW who they are writing about than letters from persons who might actually remember the face of the person that asked them to write a letter. Good luck!
