Hi Ms. BBB

I have a question for you.
I wonder if the programs know what exactly is conditional permanent resident status..I have had 2 emails from 2 different programs which don't sponsor visa but they are asking me about my visa status and I have replied them that I hold a conditional permanent resident status[ temporary Green Card] as it says on profile section of ERAS.....
I can't write permanent resident instead of conditional resident coz thats not the truth.
I hope PD's know the difference that a person with conditional permanent resident status has same status as permanent resident except the validity of temporary green card is 2 years instead of 10 years.
I hope I don't have to pay the price for being honest as some people said they would write permanent resident even if they r conditional permanent resident.

One becomes conditional permanent resident when one's marriage is less than 2 years old at the time of applying for Green Card.

Waiting to hear from u. Thanks in advance.

Program directors should know. Mine does. I do.

As long as you can work (and complete your residency) on your conditional permanent status, it shouldn't be a problem. If you start a residency and your status will expire before you can finish, and then you would need a visa - ethically, you should not start residency at that program.

Good luck!wink

Thanx a lot for your prompt reply BBB. You have no idea how much help u have been to people around here who are looking for guidance.

Yes I can work on my temporary green card[ conditional permanent resident status] but before my card expires I would go to INS again for change of my status from conditional to permanent as I am married to a US citizen.

I know I would't start a program with my green card which would expire before I finish residency coz that would not be ethical but hopefully I should't have any problem. But like I said before I did't want to lie about my status as some people told me they did.

Thank you.

But if you are able to get your permanent status and not need a visa sponsored, you should be okay.smiling face
