Hi Digidoc
I know you are evry busy, but if you have a min could you help me? I have a month and a half for CS. The problem is I will be working full time the month until my exam. Is there any suggestiuons you have for me to distribute time evenly in my preparation and what resourses to use? I have read your blog site several times and will be using it as the core of my prep. I have FA CS text and a few more text books for CS.

Hi amyg ....
you got lotsa time on ur hands for CS prep - thus even with ur full time work , you will be able to study easily if you allot a daily slot for practice...
first get the D/Ds and Inv. memorized for each case on FA + USmleworld..say in 4-5 days ..after that let there be practice sessions with a partner...for the case scenarios in FA . Keep visiting forums about trends and suggestions and experiences. practice one system each day ...and keep repeating them in cycles until ur exam day ..that will be great revision. Patient Notes after ur practice sessions or anytime now and then should do.

thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I am thinking of alloting 1 hr everyday and in the last 2 weeks maybe 2 hours a day. See, I also have two kids :-) Do you think it is essential to subscribe to uw? In your blog you say FA or UW.........

yes FA is enuf - but If you can try and atleast get the list of cases on UW - thats like being on the safer side

Thanks Dig,
My plan is to finish all FA cases and DD in the next two weeks. then subscibe to uw for a month. over the weekends in the last 4 weeks I plan to practise on my friends and family. ;-)

at times google servers are down and the blog may not open - and in some countries google blogs have been banned (like china, some parts of pakistan). etc., for political reasons.
in such cases try to access csprotocol thru www.bloglines.com

Hi digidoc,
I took my exam in LA yesterday. missed some points in history taking, didn t counsel 2 patients, ran out of time while writing patient note in 2 patients. What r my chances of passing.

Though its always tough to evaluate 'chances' - since often in the report u will be surpirsed to see yourself doing well on sections u thought u did bad..and vice-versa.
Generally speaking, making the same error on not more than 2 cases seems to not affect much . :-) so u shud do fine..fingers crossed - wish u good luck !

Hi Dig,
Just thot I will tell you my progress. I have kind of read the D/D from minicases in FA. not thoroly but once or maybe moe than once. Among the 27 cases in FA, I have read all of them atleast 2 times. Compared similar cases etc. I have practised about 8 PNs. I did leave out stuff in the PNs when I compared them to the sample ones.(how bad is that?) Among UW cases , there are about 60. I have gone through 25 of them. Most of these i practised with myaelf. Did not really time myself. I am yet to practise physicals on anyone.
I have less than 2 weeks to go. I was wondering what percentage of qs from history taking and PN should we be getting right at this point?

HI amygadala...rinnies and weber is not yet up on the blog...
about ur question - follow the 5 step pattern to history taking as mentioned on my blog...besides data-collection mnemonics. the point is to get the most relevant data-collection questions for the case you get...your own cliincal acumen will make u ask the right questions too :-)
Aim to get 90% of those questions atleast !

hi djyoti...the empty, inconclusive feeling is typical after any USMLE step ...coz we tend to remember only the mistakes and the bad part :-) I am not sure what u meant by saying "doing not to do thing" .. .
