What are the two Neuroleptics mentioned below having no tardive dyskinesia as side effect? 1.Sulpiride 2.chlorpromazine 3.Fluphenazine decanoate 4.Haloperidol 5.Clozapine

yeah..tardive dyskinesia is the adverse effect for neuroleptic because they act on dopamine and when it gives for long time dopamine receptors sensetized and produces oro facial movements ...neuroleptics include...in this list are...1..chlorpromazine 2.Fluphenazine decanoate 3.Haloperidol

while clozapine and sulpride are a typical anti psychotics which act more on 5HT2 receptors more thats why little extra pyrimidal side efects like tardive dyskinesia

what is the treatment for TD ?

there is no defenative treatment for TD ..even replacement with atypical antipsychotic (clozapine)will worsen the symptoms...only diazepam,diltiazime can relief some...but how this is not clear

Correct !!

It is thought that the mech. is D-R sensitization evidenced by Temp. reliefe of Sx by increasing the Antipsych.s dose. i haven`t heard about Diazepam and Diltiazem ...
