Concerning glucosuria, all of the following are true EXCEPT: A. Occurs when the glucose transport mechanism in the proximal tubule becomes saturated. B. May occur even at normal plasma glucose levels in conditions in which the TmG is low. C. May be accompanied by natriuresis and polyuria. D. May not occur in an old diabetic patient. E. Is accompanied by potassium retention.

To my mind answer is E. Glucosuria is accompanide by insulin deficiency, acidosis, hyperosmolarity (H20 flows out of the cell and potasium diffuses out with water)

Why cant it be D? Potassium retention is possible because of natriuresis.

Ans A. Occurs when the glucose transport mechanism in the proximal tubule becomes saturated Glucosuria occurs even with normal plasma glucose levels. So no need of the transport carriers becoming saturated. good Q phuluong2k.
