Hi guys, i received my CK score today 214/87 . I am a Venezuelan running away from Chavez graduated 2001. I got so much from this forum that i feel its my duty to give something back. I prepared for 3 months, part-time studying (4-6 hours a day).
My preparation materials were Kaplan video lectures, audio lectures, little bit of goljan, CMDT 2005, High Yield Psychiatry, Usmle World (you can't miss this!!!) and of course my beloved USMLE Step 2 Secrets (excellent book).
When i was reading these topics i used to get frustrated sometimes 'cause i only read this awesomes scores (267/99, 280/99, 250/99, etc, etc, etc) o people who failed. I think that most of us are in between like me....so this is just to cheer up those who are in same situation or probably will...smiling face
IMGs: Remember that this is all a show....you wont be asked anything that you dont know or can't remember......."once a Dr, always a Dr!"

Good luck and "exito!" smiling face

Hi chemamr, yes i'm 27, about CMDT i just used it to go deep in some explanations of Usmle World qs, none specific at all.....just when i had doubts or the answer didnt satisfied me. I'm planning to go into Internal Medicine (god speed). The 3 more tested topics are IM (maybe 40% of the test) Pediatrics and Gyn/Ob (maybe 25% each) and the rest is Surgery and Miscellaneous (Preventive Medicine, Biostatistics, etc, etc)

Good luck my friend!

Ok here's my story.....I am an old, old graduate 1995.I am planning to start studying again.I took step 1 in 2000 but failed...I went to do a masters(MPH) and By God's grace had 2 kids along the line( I am really thankful). Now I am back.I feel I can handle step 2 better as a start up person. What do you advice. If I need to review some step 1 first what area should i concentrate on.?I need candid advise

Hi wheatland.....you can always start with step 2, but my personal advise is to go to step 1 before....no reason, i just think so. If you want to review for step 1 you better go on Pathology very well, and also Physiology, Pharmacology and Behavioral Science (i got a lot of that in my test) remember that not everybody gets the same, others get more Molecular Biology and Genetics and so on. If you had the bad experience of failing in the past i would advise to you to take Kaplan courses ( i didnt take them, only QBank) but that is really a good option if you have the money, otherwise i recommend BRS (Board Review Series) for Patho, Physio, Microbiology and Inmunology, and High Yield Series (Gross Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Behavioral Science and Cell and Molecular Biology), those r the books i used for my Step 1.

Good luck Dr
