1. a 60 yr old woman with a long history of smoking , presented with dyspnoea. O/E there were bibasal crepitations. FEV1 and FVC were both severly reduced but the ratio was 80%. What is the most likely diagnosis? a. fibrosing alvelitis b. interstitial lung disease c. bronchogenic carcinoma d. decreased lung compliance e. asthma

Man, tough choice. I think it is Interstitial lung disease...

The values are for restrictive syn. c is correct, but it's not a dignosis, so I think it is b. Can you tell the exact Dx; I mean what restricive dis is often found in a smoker?

Smoking results in centrlonular emphysema which is an obstructive disease.Restrictive in smokers?????????? I think the answer is The ratio FEV1/FVC>80% in restrictive lung dis. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

I'm sorry too, I wanted to say: d is correct but... ... Yes guest; in restrictive syn. both FEV1 and FVC are reduced, but the ratio is N or above N (>70%), so it is a restrictive syn. And we have bibasal crepitations too, but as you said: "Restrictive in smokers??????????"
