Pneumocystis jiroveci(pronounced yee-row-vet-zee) is the proposed new name for organism causing human PCP(instead of P carinii)... cool info p53.. i dont know the ans to ur 2nd question..

Maybe they'll say 'P jiroveci (formerly P carinii)', but I'm not sure about this, so it's better to know new name for this nasty fungus.

That's great info, thanks bactitech! What I have understood from it is that P jiroveci (from human) and P carinii (from rat) are different species of Pneumocystis and when we are talking about human disease PCP ('Pneumocystis Pneumonia', not 'Pneumocystis carinii Pneumonia') we shouldn't use the term 'Pneumocystis carinii' any more!

Question about what's best for Micro Review for Step 1? I have Kaplan Micro, Medical micro ridiculously simple, Underground vignettes Micro, and of course the First Aid 2005. If somebody had these resources, how best to study for the Micro portion of Step 1? THANKS!!
