Hi!

I graduated in 2000, but there has always been active clinical involvement. After graduation I started working as a houseofficer in the internal medicine wards and was for one year working as a ER physician. In 2003 I started my internal medicine residency in my homecountry and from 2005 till 2007 I'll continue my IM residency in the Netherlands. I got ECFMG cretified in 2005 (86/99).

Will being an old graduate still be a big issue in finding an IM residency in the US after 2007?

not at all ! as long as you have stayed into clinical medicine, old grad is not an issue. besides 2000 grad isnt a very old grad !residency in home country will be of great help too .

GL for your residency.

There's a little thing I think you should know though, some programs require you to be a recent graduate (under 5yrs). Im not sure how serious that claim is and if it's negotiable.

Hi migs, I also saw that most programs look for recent graduates, that's why I'm worried. Anyway, now I'll have to see how lucky I'll be.

Thank you for your reply

Would not worry too much about having graduated in 2000. Many many programs accept applicants that are much later in their career.

Thank you CGR for your reply, I really do hope that some programs will give me a chance for an interview
