hi bbb , hope u can help me with this. if hospitals say they expect above 80 scores , and i've got 85 and 76, does it mean i cannot apply for any of these programmes. or do u think they are going to have a look at the whole application. i am really in trouble , cos if i stick to the scores i hardly have any hospitals to apply, though i have a good c.v,lors, clinical experience without any gaps in my career. please could you advice. thanks.

I think it depends of how much money you have to apply. If you can not afford a lot to spend, you really shoud call the programs and ask them if you have a chance in each particular program It will save you money, so you can apply to as much " sure deal" programs as possible. If money is not the issue, you can apply anyway and just do not get too upset if you do not hear from the programs with higher requiments. Sometimes people get lucky and they are invited for the interview even if they do not meet ALL the requiements.

Individual programs set their own screening limits for scores - most focus on step 1, since most US medical students don't attempt step 2ck until late in their fourth year. They won't tell you honestly what those screening criteria are. I would not call programs and ask since you'll may get an administrator who doesn't want the hassle of reviewing another IMG application and will put you off. Apply to the best programs you stand a chance with, and that youd be happy in, and work from there. Hope that helps, CGR

I would take the two scores and use your average - which (even with my bad math) is over 80. Apply. Every year I tell applicants what my program prefers and I get hundreds and hundreds of applications without the criteria that we placed out there. Good luck!
