BBB- A few qs since you are a PC

1. I applied yesterday and saw that several programs had downloaded my photo though ERAS says that programs cannot see your photo until they grant you an interview. How important is photo in the decision making process/granting interviews.( Please don't say that programs don't care how you look -it cannot be true)

2. Since I was late for last years match, I participated during the scramble. At that time I noticed that programs were downloading apps at midnight or late evenings. Since it was scaramble, I assumed they were working extra hours.

But yesterday, after I had applied, I saw that a couple of programs have downloaded my stuff well past their working hours(6 45 pm eastern or 6 15 am in the morning). Definitely PCs do not work that long now. I am not sure if PDs hang around that late or early either!

My question is - Do they set up an automatic downloading in their systems or if there is a real person sitting and downloading these stuff for the programs, especially if it is an ungodly hour.

3. I am well prepared for this match with my step 3 in hand. All 3 of my scores are in 90s. Is my step 3 score and my consistency a favorable point in my application?

4. Geographical ties to the program; Husband/Family in the same city and difficult to relocate- Does it weigh in the selection policy?

Thanks for your time. I really empathize with PCs with the ordeal they go through by answering thousands of such questions.

1. Programs cannot see your picture until you have been selected for an interview.

2. I leave my computer on when I leave the hospital so that it can download all night. My hours from 7am to 4pm are ungodly enough!nod

3. Well, yes!

4. Something like that would come out during the interview.

Ordeal? It's times like this when "cut and paste" mean alot!!

smiling face Good luck to all

Thanks BBB- That was really prompt- Have a great long weekend.

From what you say, it looks like that though programs download your photo, they cannot see it unless they send a message to the candidate through ERAS granting an interview.(Because I presume that is the only way ERAS can know that a program is interviewing the candidate)

correct - until you are selected and invited, pictures can't be viewed. Even if I wanted to see all the cute guys.....wink

Pictures are very important after you are selected for interview. After the interview some programs use pictures to identify who you are. One person might hold that picture of you up while the team discusses whether to accept you or reject you. Pictures are helpful for program directors because it is much easier to correlate a face with an interview than just a name. Everyone in the team instantly thinks "oh that guy!" instead of "Thomas Smith, which candidate was that the first or second?". Try to look professional in your picture, much like you would look when you are giving your cs (not formal like a wedding picture) so that the focus is you; not your hairstyle or your makeup.
