Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Hello alltogether!

I received my score report, and I still can't believe that I have passed. Waiting for the score report was my most horrible time until now. After the eight hours my head started to steam. It was very hot. You may cook some omelets on it. My exam was on 15th July and I received my score report on 16th august.

In April I started with my preparations for the step2 and for the second state exam in Germany. I am still a student. My german exam was last week.

First I learned Internal Medicine. I used a german book, kaplan lecture notes and the blueprints. The following subjects were Surgery, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Neurology and Psychiatrics. Beside the big subjects I learned also the "smaller ones" like ophthalmology, ENT, Urology (for this subject I used only a german book). After each subject I did Pretest MCQ. First I tried to do also the MCQ of Appleton & Lange but it was too much and the time was not enough, so that I concentrate only on the Pretest series. I finished my first studies on 28th June. After the first study round I tried NBME Part I and I reached 620. Then I registered for USMLEWORLD and Kaplan Q bank and started to repeat each subject. For the repeating I used also First Aid, USMLE Step 2 secrets and Board and wards for step 2. Four days before my exam I finished both Q-banks. UW: 73%, Kaplan Q-Bank: 79%. The least three days I repeated my wrong questions and on Friday I took my exam. The time during the exam was for the most blocks enough but in two blocks I was in distress... I finished this blocks with only two minutes buffer.

I was asked many Internal Medicine questions and Gynecology. There were also many Pediatrics questions. Psychiatric was not very much represented but they were the longest ones. I had some step 1(!) questions but they were easy. They was about respiratory functions.

I think that doing the Kaplan lecture notes is enough. I wished I would have done them twice but I did not accomplished because I had not enough time.

Don't get frustrated when you reach a low score in UW or Kaplan Q bank. Everything comes to him who waits. Stay patient and hopeful.

I thank god for giving me patience.

God Luck for everyone.

thanks for your replies. I wish you reaching the same or even a better score. I hope my experience will help step2 attendees.

Dear chemamr, you are right. My average scores in UW or Kaplan were high. But when I compare this scores with my average score that I reached during the preparation for the german examination, they seemed to be low. First I could not belive that reaching a score of 73% in UW would be enough for passing or even getting a good two digit score, but the posts of the other buddies show this, and I can only confirm this.

Thank you.
