Hello! I am an IMG. scoring 80 on Step 1 and 85 on Step 2. In my home country I work as an OB. Are these scores too low to get into an OB program and if that's the case can u suggest some other programs that worth to try. TXS

Don't know about OB...If I were you,I would go for IM,FP,Pathology,Neurology... It is a lot of easier to get than OB,I would say... But,on the other hand, you may try for OB and see what happenes.I believe it all depends for year to year on many factors other than your score(N of people applying to oB,your visa status, your year of graduation.prior experience etc that sort of stuff). You have to be lucky(just a little bit) and things can(and will) happen! Good luck!!!

OBG is getting easier by the year for IMGs to enter. And since you have a background in tht it can only work to your advantage.

You can see how competitive different residencies at the NRMP data site http://www.nrmp.org/res_match/data_tables.html You can judge competitiveness by looking at the fraction of IMGs matching into each specialty, see Table 6. Hope that helps, CGR

Yes,well:The older you are,the tougher it gets(at least, that is what they say,for number of specialties).Especially if you are an old graduate(some programs have requirements exmp.no more than 5 years of graduation and so on... Another thing,if you have not worked in clinical medicine since graduation, many PD's will give up on your application-as they want people who were"hands on things" and already trained in a clinical way. But,again-It is all very VERY individual,I know people getting into their wanted residencies more than 10 yrs from graduation(doing only research meanwhile) and I also know people who graduated right befoe application to ERAS and they did not match.... Hope this helps.
