Dear colleagues - i took USMLE 2CK 3 days ago (23.08.) and allow me to share this terriful experience with u. Don't want to scare u but would really like ur opinion cause i don't know if something is wrong with me... 4 month ago i gave state exam in my own country, after that i was preparin from american books. On Kaplan i was reaching more then 88-90%, and on USMLE that i downloaded from its page 93%. So I thought that after 8 month of hard studyng and such a good results on these sites i was pretty ready to take an exam. To be honest i was shocked with the severity of the exam. More then 30% or even 40% of my exam was surgery - can't believe it and the questions were like i was taking specialty exam on last year of my surgery residence. Almost all the questions were so long that i needed almost 1min just to read it. And there was plenty of questions which seemed to me like they should belong to USMLE step 1 - they gave me a cross section of 5 week old fetus and told me to sign where exactly the future melanocites are!!!!!! can u believe it?!?!?! Don't get me wrong - i knew that the exam was going to be difficult and i spoke with a lot of people but was really not prepared for such things. I had 372 questions and can u believe that NONE of them (and i really mean NONE) was from neurology, only few from phychiatry, no cardiology, nothing but surgery and basic medicine. I almost thought that there was something mistake and that they gave me the wrong exam. I really don't know if i'm going to pass at all and really don't know what to do cause i can't do much more then i did for this time - i passed the whole clinical medicine and i mean all. So please tell me was ur exams so difficult with so many basic questions from anatomy, physiology... or was this just a coincidence that on this date was applied this havy exam. Would be gratefull for any suggestion or opinion. Wish luck for u all with ur exams and hope that they will not be as difficult as mine was. Thanx

buddy bont worry this is a sure sign of success. it is proven that we tend to remember only the questions that we dont know and thus feel down the way u did on your practice tests i think u are on your way to get a 90+. if u still feel anxious i would say go ahead and take nbme!! they say it correlates well with the exam and when u get a 600+ equals a 97 on the exam you will feel more relaxxed. but honestly i think u just need to go to hawaii and have some fun unless u have to worry about match . dont worry u will be fine. keep it kool . (this is a true sign of a 99ner, if u dont beleive me read some of the previous experiences!!!!
