Guys, help me. Here is list of books which I have done for Physiology: 1. 'Review of Medical Physiology', by Ganong 2. 'NMS Physiology', by Bullock 3. 'BRS Physiology', by Costanzo 4. 'Kaplan Lecture Notes: Physiology' After reading all these (yet, everything only one time) I was surprised to reveal that my weakest subject is physiology. I found physiology questions (especially with graphs and pictures) difficult to answer. I think it's not because what they ask, but because how they ask. I have 2 months before my step 1. What do you recommend to improve my scores in physiology?

hey p53, i think u have done all the groundwork needed....now u need to apply all that to solve as many qu as u can...maybe u can also read one of the reviews again, either BRS or Kaplan to reinforce certain things especially the graphs in CVS and RS... good luck...

Thank you, an, I'll do as much physio questions as I can. One more thing - I'm going to do 1 month Kaplan QBank and someone said on this forum that pathology is overrepresented in it and other subjects are underrepresented. That's not good for me, because pathology is already my strongest subject - I don't need any more practice in it. Someone who have done qbank - could you confirm this info? If that's true, maybe it's better for me to do Kaplan physiology Qbank instead of general? What do you think? If someone have done physio Qbank - what's their opinion about it?

p4a99: i TOTALLY get what you mean!! and, this is the scariest statement:
p53 wrote: pathology is already my strongest subject - I don't need any more practice in it. i mean, YIKES!!! is it even POSSIBLE to feel like that??? no offence, p53, i respect you immensely, and a score like yours is a dream i'd like to make my reality.

paheli, do you realise that he read 4 books to prepare for physio and it was still his weakest subject ( sure he has very high standards ) now imagine how good his good subjects are. not mentioning how many books he read for patho ( about five + he did the robbins review Q two times "hundreds and hundreds" ). I respect him so much.

Here is what he read for patho he said: "Here is what I have done for pathology (from the biggest to the smallest): 'Robbins and Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease', cover to cover 'Robbins Basic Pathology' (the best text, if you are doing it with 'Robbins Review') 'Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology' (Gold Standard, if you are pointing to 99 on step 1, with highly USMLE-ish questions, have done it 2 times) 'Pocket Companion to Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease' (easy fast reading, but without pictures) Goljan's textbook - 'STARS Pathology' (I haven't found it very helpful, especially after Robbins; maybe his review is better; anyway, as you can see, I'm a Robbins fan, not a Goljan fan) all questions from http://library.med.utah.edu/WebPath/webpath.html (Dr.Klatt is author for them, as well as for 'Robbins Review', but webpath questions are shorter) Goljan's audio CD (it's funny and entertaining, but too basic and too time consuming) 'BRS Pathology' (mediocre source if your aim is a high score on step 1) Haven't read 'Kaplan Lecture Notes: Pathology' - worst and weakest book among Kaplan LN." I erased some sentences that werent relenvant to our topic, for the whole thing read his exam experience.

[brain theft, indeed!! lol!] p.s. i'm pretty sure he'll read this. so, p53, would you consider this as a compliment and forget the law-suit?? have a good day! ok, better get back to the books now, that i have to do this with my own brain!

No you don't need to read 4 physio. books to get a good score. There are others whom got excellent scores just using Kaplan LN (Lecture Notes). It is up to you. Use the materials that suit you the best. Don't be scared. That wont help you. Gather your materials. Make a decent schedual and stick to it. Then, don't sit for the exam till you score very well on the NBMEs.
