What can be the cause in a child of inspiratory stridor?

i am not sure but i remember dr.goljian talking something about a thunbprint sign somewhere. maybe thats it... got to confirm though

thumbprint sign on lateral neck X-ray in case of epiglottitis

i think you are talking about croup and its inspiratory stridor. In a lateral Xray youŽll see a "steeple sign"

hmm subglottic stenosis? is it or not

can u explain the steeple sign

but if child only has inspiratory noise or stridor and not while sleeping then it is laryngomalacia. Look at larynx and u see epiglotis rolled from side to side. It is something which resolve by 2 yr age. Precaution is to hold the child or baby for 30 min about after feed and Not to feed while lying down.

I have a confusion i hope some one can clearify with source. What is the first line of management of Asthma is a child? i think i remember conflicting versions in uw and kap....like Na Cromolyn best in children while some one say inhaled Beta ag? which is it

for an asthmatic crisis or attack is B agonist.

for chronic management or prophylactic, it depends on the severity.
