Dear BBB, I an IMG from Australia. I was just wondering if I wanted to apply for internship in 2007, when do you think most people apply to their hospital....is that mid year 2006 or the end of the year 2006, And also, I have a low score on my step 1, 81/199...not a good score i guess, I'm still working on my step 2 , do you think i stand any chance for IM ( i want to do cardiology for my specialist)? You will apply through ERAS the summer of 2006 - about one year from now.
Anything is possible. I know a physician who scored 76, both parts, ended up as a Chief Resident, and had a cardiology fellowship. I'd trust him with my life. I also know another physician who scored in the mid 90's, can't get a fellowship and I wouldn't recommend him for anyone that I knew.
Both are from the same medical school outside the USA.
