Hi you guys... I've heard that if you are an H1B visa holder, it'll be difficult or maybe impossible to get a fellowship position since most fellowship programs prefer J1 visa. Is that true???

Unfortunately, it's true.

The paperwork for H-visas is more cumbersome and can be subject to delays. However, academic medical centers are exempt from the H-cap and most fellowships are in academic medical centers. Also, there is rarely a rush since fellowships match a year or more before they start leaving plenty of time for adjustment of status. Even still, if you are in a rush your program can pay $1000 for premium processing and your change will be made within 28 days. As long as you and your program are on top of it, H is always the way to go. www.internationaldoc.com
