According to FDA Genta is in the C category of risk during pregnancy... ( Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the fetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women, or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.) No way ,there must be another option

 Among AG 's gentamycin is the most commonly prescribed aminoglycoside during pregnancy. However, gentamycin has not been shown to cause birth defects, or damage kidneys or hearing in the fetus. Gentamycin is an FDA category C drug, and may be used when its benefits outweigh the risks of its use. Examples of such situations include certain pelvic, heart valve, or kidney infections. any idea guys ?

Because pyelonephritis in pregnancy is associated with risks to mother and child it is recommended that it be treated in hospital with intravenous antimicrobials. uncomplicated pyelonephritis in pregnancy might be safely and effectively treated with oral cephalosporins. so it is d.

Hi guys! According tomanual of obstetrics iv cephalosporins or ampicillin plus an aminoglycoside would be the treatmant. Ampicillin resistance is so high thus it could not be used alone.
