i think, it's due to low free Ca++ levels that occurs in alkalosis.

Contraction alkalosis is due to loss of bicarbonate poor and chloride rich ECF e.g with thiazide and loop diuretic therapy or chloride diarrhea.There is contraction of the ECF volume but because the original mass of bicarbonate is dissolved in a smaller volume of fluid, there is an increase in bicarb conc. leading to alkalosis.
