Explain the effects of hypersetrogenic states on thyroid hormone profile?

  #2

estrogen increses the level of binding globulins, therefore the total count of the hormones that are protein bound will increase without any effect on the free hormone, so functional status will remain normal.

Perfect!!

since there will be no increase in total hormoes...free T4 would be normal in hyperestrogenic states and there will be no change in TSH.However.it is also true that in pregnancy and enlarged thyroid, palpitations and heat intolerance are not uncommon and are normal findings...they donot indicate an overactive gland.
