Pemphigus Vulgaris - age: 30-40yrold
- clinical findings: denuded skin with fragile suprabasal blisters which rupture easily, may see oral lesions
- biopsy:acantholysis, separating of the epidermal cells
- immunofluorecence:antibodies to antigens in epidermal intercellular spaces(desmosomes attacked)
- antibodies: IgG (C3 deposition also seen)
Bullous Pemphigoid - age: 70-80yrs
- clinical findings: tense subepidermal bullae, often intact, denuded eroded areas, no involvement of oral mucosa
- Biopsy: entire epidermis lifting up and separating from dermis, deeper blisters at dermo-epidermo junction
- immunofluorescence: antibodies at the dermo-epidermal junction(hemidesmosomes)
