cud anyone explain y b isfavored over a. i wud choose a(anoxia) as it is a contributing factor in B(prematurity) to maintain patency

good q study-ing. HY emb says ' pda is very common in prem infants and in infants born to mothers who contracted rubella in pregnancy.' intrauterine and neonatal asphyxia sustains pda. i want to agree with you that the CAUSE is anoxia. this is a close call.

I think anoxia, prematurity causes leads to poorly developed lungs, low amounts of surfactant. O2 tension is the main reason for closure foa patent ducuts. I go with A

Well, if they are asking the commenest cause- which ought to be prematurity. The reason being - other causes sustain it. The other causes will only work if born premature. correct me if wrong
