hello guys i have benefited tremendously from this forum, now it's time to contribute back. i studied for over 6 months, took the test on June 30th. i use following books: anatomy: HY anatomy/ embryology/neuroanatomy behavior science: HY biochemistry: Lippincott microbiology: Micro made ridiculously simple pathology: BRS pharmacology: Lipincott physiology: BRS for questions, i used the Q-bank, USMLE CD and NBME-1. i also listened the Goljan audio, and read his HY 36 pages. i must say he is a great teacher, his way of teaching made preparation more enjoyable or less grilling... now for my exam, most of questions are clinical cases testing about pathophysiology, but i also get many basic questions asking hard fact like what is the function of peroxisome etc. pharmcology questions are staightforward, i think FA is good for this section. behavior science is all physician-patients relationship, personally i don't think you can prepare well for this stuff, maybe a lot of Qs can help.physiology is tested through graph and chart, like pulmonay TV,RV ect. finally FA is something you should go over and over. there are few Qs came outside of FA in my test. so know this book cold. in the end, i want to thank this forum for valuable info and wish fellow test takers good luck! one more word for full time worker, hang in there and go for it, if i can do it, you can too

thank you guys for your encouragements. for karusmle's questions, Q-bank is quite similar to what i have seen in the test both in question style and diffculty levels. there are also a few almost identical Q-bank Qs on my test. but as i said, there are also basic hard facts in the test which made it feel a little bit easier than the Q-bank, maybe it is just me who are used to remembering minutia. the bottom line is reading everything while remembering with emphasis...the FA. i would suggest you to use FA as early as possible. since it takes at least two readings to make yourself comfortable with the content, let alone remembering it. if physiology keeps your score down, maybe you want review the kaplan physiology note or other soure like BRS,make sure grasp the basic concept, and do corresponding Q-bank. other than that, use the Q-bank in timed random mode, just get youself tuned to the exam format. hope it helps, good luck!

i have not used the kaplan physiology Q-bank, so i can't comment on that. for the Q-bank, you can finish it and reread the explanation in one month if you have no other oligations. if you are working and studying at the same time, one month is not enough.

hi unfortunate as i know, 1 or 3 months is just the length you have access to Q-bank, there is no difference in number of Qs. you want to get familiar with Qs early which can help you focus on important concepts when you doing reviews.

hi i have opened the www.nbme.org site but i dont know how to book the online test..and also tell me how to book www.kaplan.com online Q-bank? just i know the sites but i dont know how to book.. my hearty congrats to u. and also tell me the important chapters of Beh.science of kaplan notes and barbara fadem. what about immunology...the questions are very hard? i did kaplan material i felt material is easy.if we get 10 questions from immunology means can we answer more questions?and what about anatomy...i heard we should concentrate only on neuro anatomy...what about gross anatomy? and about biochemistry...they will give any cycles and they will ask questions in that or they will ask directly? what about microbial genetics in microbiology?

hi rapport for NBME online testing, check https://external1.nbme.org/nsasweb/servlet/mesa_m... for kaplan q-bank, check http://www.kaptest.com/med_home.jhtml?source=kap_... for Beh Sci, read patients-doctor relation and do a lot of Qs. immunology is only a couple of Qs on my test, it is not that hard. anatomy and neuroanatomy are equally imortant, use HY, they are pretty good for the test. biochemistry is given in clinical case, i have not seen Kreb cycle on my exam. i have no microbial genetics either. good luck.
