Hi!Just found out my Step2CK score...78...do any of you know if I have any chance of getting into an IM program?I failed Step 1 and will retake it soon.I am an IMG but have no problems with visa as I am an Amer. citizen.Most programs I looked at req atleast 80 to get an interview.Don't know what to do now...

hey dr mary !

Congrats! one obstacle is over. gather yourself & take step1 with renewed vigour! being an US-ctizen, you beat majority of the imgs anyways.

remember its not only your scores, its the whole package that matters; your previous clinical exposure,strong LORs, good PS and above all your own self as you present in the interviews.

I have some friends in similar situation as yours, doing IM in good programs ! try to make up for the scores with an observership/ research position/publications & thus good US LORs !

dont worry. just hang on try gettin a god score in the step1 and try finishing step3 before u apply that way it will be an advantage

Hey buddy, keep your chin up. smiling face A friend of mine failed step 1, retook it and passed. and he passed step 2. he did get into IM residency. so, work hard, get a great score on step 1. and like cody said, it's the whole package that counts.

Hey Dr. Mary, cheer up!, in fact you have real, good possiblities to get an IM residency program, more if you are a US citizen. Just study hard for step 1 and youŽll be done, without any problem. Good for you !!
