can anyone tell me when and how to screen for colon and breast cancer in a high risk group(family history, etc) and in a non-risk person ?

thank you

Colon CA: non-risk: start at 50 years old with a colonoscopy every 10 years and hemoccult annulally in >50 years.

High risk: start at 40 years of 10 years younger than the youngest relative who developed a colon CA (which occurrs earlier) and colonoscopy is each 3-5 years.

In Familial Adenomat Polyp: start at 20 years.

Breast CA: women start their monthly self examination since 20 years, 1 week after their menstrual period. Annual exam by physician and mammogram since 40 years to 75 years. Though there are other associations that say from 40-50 y do mammogram each 1-2 years, and since 50 years annually.

Hope this helps.
