hello!

A lot of Universities have mentioned on their websites that "atleast 1 yr hands on clinical experience required"

my question is whether there can be any exception to this rule [like with scores of 260+ on step 1 and 280+ on step 2]....? Should one even bother to apply to these programs??

nod Good question! This is my question too. I have called a couple of those programs and asked them the same question. They said they are not going to interview me if I do not have US clinical experience regardless of my scores. I told one of them that you require scores of 80 and I have 99 but she recommended me not to apply to their program. As you see, US clinical experience is much more important than scores but unfortunately it is not easy to get hands on experience as a FMG in US hospitals. Let me know if you got new information about those programs

There are so many good programs that would be happy to see you as part of their team! The answer really depends who are you talking to. You got to get to talk/write to somebody who is in charge. A person that answers the phone isn't usually the one who is empowered to make makes such exceptions.
