What kind of jaundice are you interested?

blood bilirubin is the unconjugated bilirubin, once it reaches the liver gets conjugated and then reaches the colon . once in the colon the conjugated bilirubin is converted back into unconjugated by the intestinal bacteria which then becomes the urobilinogen.(pl see that we dont use the term stercobilinogen any more, as urobilinogen and stercobilinogen are the same).now this urobilinogen is converted into urobilin and hence the dark coloured stools, some of this urobilinogen is absorbed in to the blood stream and some into the urine and hence the dark coloured urine....

now blood can have both conjugated and unconjugated hyperbilirubinemias... unconjugated egs, hemolytic anameias, spherocytosis, etc, and criggler najjar, gilberts syndrome,

conjugated egs, obstruction of the bile duct, rotor and dubin johnsonetc

both conju and unconju, egs hepatitis and cirrhosis

in conjugated, no urobilinogen in the stool and pale stools, but some bilirubin reaches the urine and hence dark urine.

hope thats what u wanted
