congrads on your great score maybe a little jelous really want that score i have a question i am giving my exam in end of sept hopefully i am scoring 59 on q bank system wise read kaplan 2 times going for the third and goljan book twice my best score in q bank is path 74 physio my least 41 what i want to know were u ever in my shoes 2 months before your actual exam am i hoping for the impossible i really want to make this matching or post matching please give me some advice it would be appreciated alot and again congrads u are a lucky bum

karusmle: since U still have a few months till your exam, it might be a good idea to take a break from studying for a couple of days and clear your mind. you appear to have a lot of stress.
to rapport: for physiology kaplan is great and there is no nead for BRS. for molecular biology kaplan is also the best. cell biology I did not study. as for Behavioral science the most important topic is doctor patient relationship, I only read kaplan and did Qbank and on usmle my highest marks where for BS.
To Female doc ny: thanks for the kind words. believe me luck has very little to do with getting a good score. Hard work and Perseverence are the major determining factors for scoring well. I must tell you that the Qbank score has little correlation with your usmle score. use Qbank to learn the subjects not to test yourself. I would recommend you work on your physiology. although not to many direct questions from phys on the exam, mastering phys is very important to answering pathophys questions. 2 months is alot of time. review kaplan 2 more times epecially phys and review path from goljan. altogether if you manage 2 more reads you are in good shape. good luck

Do they send the scores through courier or simple mail? I know its silly but then waiting was neva an easy job for me...
And you sure must be in US to have got your scores soooo early after the oasis update man!?!

hearty congratts!!! you advicing folks so nicely..i m impressed the way you wrote yuor post...its fantastic encouraging exam takers.u doing great job...
i flunked in step1 ,now studying again ,,just wanna take exam in oct end....is this enough time to read the whole stuff again...i have added new source like goljan rapd rvw 'n' audio..
so can you advice me - how much time it takes to review all subjects??coz i m repeater...i think 2nd reading enough...then q bank rite...
how would ya advice me to take exam at ......time????

thanks cam for the advice will try to give 2 more readings by the way did u use FA i mean i have the book look at it sometime but not really i just cannt seem to fathom that this is what i will review in the end espacilly after doing kaplan i mean FA looks to litlle also did u do Goljan high yeild if so when did u correlate these with your studies also can u give us your studying schedule like how much time did u give to questions did u do any other questions and did u do the questions again well thas all i could think of now sorry for all these questions but need support from other doctors

goljan mentions in his audio that there r some high yield notes for the exam and if u done go thro the exam u will not do good ,thats what he says.......may i know which one he is mentioning ,how many pages r they and r they that very important???
and secondly ,i got 300 pages and he says quite a few things r for step 2 ,should i have to skip what all he said....or should i study every line??

hi cam in exam questions are too big compared to Q- bank ...means how much differnce it makes of both Q- bank and the exam makes? i know no one can answer exactly how many lines etc in the exam...but just iam asking comparetiviely to Q-bank..is it the questions will be 20 lines or more ? and what we should do if we get very big questions...how to answer them...because time will b less....should i mark as unanswered...and in the end of the block i should answer that big questions?...some are saying we should read the last line first and we should now start reading the question ......
and also one more question is ..what is the 3 digit score while doing Q-bank?

sorry about the delay .
unfortunate: I can't say exactly bot I think one month should be reasonable for one read of all books. start q bank early.
female doc ny: I didnt do goljan HY. about FA, you wont beleive how important FA is start it now. I only did Qbank and altogether didnt put much time into questions .mostly revied kaplan and FA . try to do 30-40 Q at night if you have the time.
karusmle: didnt do HY so cant comment on that.
rapport: usmle Q are longer than Qbank. every body has there one style of answering Q's. i myself read through it realy fast. and look at the answers. if i cant anwer it, skim through the Q to narrow down my choice. I had no problem with time. reviewed all my marked and still had extra. 640 is the score from NBME . after taking your nbme test you get a three digit score and a table that gives you the approximate score you will get on step 1 correlating with this three digit score. www.nbme.org www.kaptest.com

have you taken nbme? if not I highly recommend it. for the last two weeks study FA intensively and try to reveiew as mutch of kaplan as possible. that's what I did.

I’m IMG. My step1 in 3rd week of Aug. I’ve been able to revise kaplan notes only once-some subjects NOT even once.I LISTENED TO goljan audio.I finished kaplan qbook with 60% av. Score. Did about 10 kaplan blocks with 60% av. Score.Should i cancel the exam. My extended eligibility period is ending on 31 Aug. I’m feeling low due to low qbook scores.moreover, i was not able to revise 3 times kaplan notes as most recomend. Should i cancel exam as step1 scores matter a lot 4 IMGs residency application. I also wanted to finish remaining 30 blocks of q bank.I need to score above 95 in step1 exam.i’m feeling very very low with my q book scores, perhaps due to lack of revisions.i graduated in 2001..There is inner feeling in my mind that i have NOT reached my full potential 4 MLE step1, which can be reached in next 2 months.Pls reply soon.

take nbme exam. the score correlation is very accurate. if the score fulfills your expectations take the exam ,if not cancel.

Congratulations, sincerely, I wish you best luck in your next steps and your career.
I just began preparing USMLE step 1 for three weeks. I am collecting useful studying materilas now. Thanks for your golden advice that FA and Kaplan notes is very very important. I will soon buy FA in amazon.com. But for the Kaplan notes you mentioned, I absolutely want to get it. I know kaplan school is very good, but I am a full-time PhD student and I don't think I would have chance to go the the school in person. If I can not go the Kaplan school, how can I get the "Kaplan notes", please help me. Thanks in advance.
