Mesoderm has four parts....
a)Axial
b)Paraxial
c)Intermediate
d)Lateral.
Notochord is a derivative of Axial mesoderm..

Formation of notochord starts around day 16 of embryonic development.
It forms a transient passge called neurenteric canal, w/c connects the yolk sac cavity & amniotic cavity, this occurs around day 18.
