Thanks all of u my good friends.Iknow I haven't still posted my detailed experience yet.As some of u might remember I had left for a trip right after my test.Since morning i have been trying to get a moment to write but my mom is comming today so had so much stuff to do.Right now I am going to my son's school to meet his band teacher and wud go to the airport from ther .I promise I'll write one b 4 going to bed tonight.Iknow most of the names above have passed already but it might help other esp moms in my situation.God is great.See ya

It is not only your success,it also the success of all mums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!whi has difficulties to manage home and studies at the same time.
How long you took to study CK?
Because resently you posted that you passed step 1.
So quickly you did step 2. That is great.............Getrat mum.
How logh we need time to prepare CK? It will be helpful if you give us an idea.
Tell us tips for time management.It is the big problem to house wifes?Hpw did you walked through there barriers?

Hi, everybody, my mom is taking a nap so I thought
I shud write few lines her.I feel like taking anop too but oh well…if I don’t write now I wont get time as we r going to a peace relly tonight.
Introduction: some of u know me but for others I wud write down something about myself.Mind u non of this to brag but it is to encourage those girls(or women) who are in similar situation as me.
Well first of all I am a very very old grad.I can’t help laughing when ppl call themselves old if the have graduated 5 yrs ago.Hey u guys are kids still.No offence.I graduated about 16 years ago( might hurt me when I apply for residency).I worked till I came to this great land in 94.Then I realized I am not ready to share my 2 ½ yr old daughter with a day care center or baby sitter.Not that ant thing is wrong with doing that.I have seen great families wher kids went to day care centers. But I guess I wasn’t ready for it.Probably my career wasn’t my priority at that time.Everyone is different.I still love being at home , spending time with my kids,correcting them right away if they are wrong , appreciating htem for good behaivior or even clening or shinning my kitchen countertops.This just the way I am, good or bad who cares.I also mange my hussband’s office on part time basis.I knew I wud go back but did not know when.So all these years I did not even have any book.Anyways now that my kids are older and MashaAllah sensible I decided to strt studying..Also they completed some of the activities they are in like swimming ,Kung fu or Kouman.
I studied for step 1 on on and off basis for one year and passed last sep 30th.Don’t need to go into detail of step 1.After that I had unplanned break for 4 months and started on jan 19th I guess. And took my test on June 24th.So it was less then 5 month and I had at least 2 family emergency breaks 10 to 14 days each. .Other than that We did not cut down on socializing . we socialize a lot but I continued that cz that is the only time I wud be relaxing otherwise either I am studying or doing chores or busy with my kids home work and stuff.
Till first week of Apr I was still doing my first reading then decided to start uw since at that time I was planning to take test by end of May latter another family emergency and I decided to postpone it to June.
Uw.I did first 2 blocks in 60s and then my performance strted to go down .When I got 37% I felt like I was slapped iin front of acrowd esp my kids.Then I was sooooo mad. I stated reading Kaplan also. Bgginning of june I finished my uw.My first go was 58% and then I did my incorrect ones and then I rvised all…by the end I cud bring my score up to 67%.Not good for many ppl but I knew I had learnt a lot.Then Ikept on reading Kaplan .I didn’t quite finish my 2nd reading but was close.So u can say altogather I did 1 and 2/3 readin( oh well almost 2 ) of Kaplan. And did uw twice.
I dropped the idea of doing FA( anew unfamiliar book) and tried to do as much Kaplan as I cud. Also I read my notes from uw on the sides.
For mcqs. Other than uw I tried may be 5-6 blocks of Qbook and 2-3 of Kaplan simulated(it was very discouraging so I quit it).
Exam: God gave me the strength to stay calm and focused during this test but toward the end I had to read questions again and again to get in to my head.I forgot to mention I always had difficulty finishing tests in uw within the time but it wasn’t so in the real test.I was rushing all the time but finished all blocked 1 to 7 min b 4 time.I am a slow reader..Last two block I don’t have any idea what I did.
Subjectwise I found almost evey thing there.I am not very good at this but IM ,paeds, ob/gyn and evn surgey(trauma) was loaded.There wer many basic anatomy questions at leas 1-3 in each block.I did not have many calculations.I guess 3 altogather and it was simple..I had quit afew straight step 1 questions..There wer lots of questin that made feel like banging my head cz they wher so basic and simple that I did not pay attention to those while studying.and I was like Goooosh I know it just give me a clue.I think sometime being scred of the test we pay so much attention to complicated stuff and ignore the simple things..
This is all I can think of .Please feel free to ask questions.I’ll try my best to help u all as I was helped by others or even you.I don’t know what kind of score I’ll get but I am sure praying for a good one.I believe in keeping high expectations and be ready for the worst.I deserve it oh God Din’t I full fill my duties that u bestowed on me.( this is called blackmailing God….it works).Good luck to u all.Sorry this message was too long.Study hard.and pray to God.

enjoyed your story very, very much! you surely deserve a great score, you did for step1. Did you do NBME or USMLE CDs qs? If you did, please make some comments. About time, do you think real qs are shorter than UW's or you had a super performance that day? I also have problem with time management, and some folks are talking 3/4 qs are full page. When are you going to take CS?

hamidi, i'm planning to do step 1 next, i wana know which kaplan books did you use because i saw 2 kinds of kaplan books on the net ,one called home study books and the other is the one used in kaplan centers with the videos , which one do you all use? please help me which one i should buy

ice cool.Like step 1 I did not doNBME for ck for two reason
.I was short of time as usual.
.I honestly did not want to spend time on questions that did not even have explainations.But I was doing nbme qs on diff forums off and on.
Yeah sorry I forgot to mention usmle cd. I had42/46,37/46 and 37/46.Not asuperb score but for me it was ok.
I am not sure if it was just my adrenalin or luck,but I did not have time problem inreal test.Sometime ppl say they were short of time if they had five min left, but I finished a block even a minute b4 time IO wud call it ok cz in usmle world somwtimes I cud not even finish all questions.I think ther were mixed questions long and short unlike uw where most are long or twisted.Still I wud highly recomend doing uw.I t is better to be prepared for the worst.
Lilly, I di kaplan lecture noted (that u get with center prep) .They r excellent .Another thing that I wud highly recomend is Goljan lectures for patho.I cud still hear Goljan during my ck.He is excellent.and for q bank I did kaplan q bank.If u want u can find my exam experience in step 1 forum.Feel free to ask if u have any question.
Thecross, oasisi usually get updated on third or 5th we night after ur test.In my case it was 5th thurseday.here I am pasting the whole trick
OASIS trick
Step 1: Go to this website: http://oasis.ecfmg.org/
Step 2: Click on the OASIS button at the right
Step 3: Fill out your USMLE ID and password
Step 4: Click on USMLE/CSA Score Reporting Information at the left
Step 5: Check if your score has been reported. ( both of your exam date and score report date must be appeared )
If your score has been reported, go back to h ttp://oasis.ecfmg.org/
Step 6: Click on the ECFMG Home button on the left
Step 7: Click on Interactive Web Application (IWA)
Step 8: Scroll down
Step 9: At the bottom left you will see "Begin new application"
Step 10: Click on "Step 1,2, or CSA"
Step 11: Scroll down and click on "Proceed with IWA application"
Step 12: You will see this:
ECFMG Examination History
Have you ever submitted an application to ECFMG for any examination, even if you did not take the examination?
Yes, and I know my USMLE/ECFMG Identification Number. Yes, but I do not know my USMLE/ECFMG Identification Number.
No, I have never submitted an application to ECFMG.
Step 13: Choose the first option and click next
Step 14: You may have to log in again on the next page with your USMLE ID and password
Step 15: The screen will ask which exam you are interested in. Select the exam you took and click next
DRUM ROLL
The next screen will be in red print saying that you have successfully taken this step and can't re-apply for it if you passed. If you failed, it will let you go on.
Note:
1. OASIS is usually updated on Wednesday at midnight (East Coast time)
2. It is usually updated on the 3rd or 4th Wednesday after you take your test. An exception is late May to early July when most AMGs take the test and there is a delay in score reporting.
3. Once your score is updated on the OASIS website, it means that they have mailed out your score.
4. You will get your score in the mail in 2-3 days usually.

first of all congratulations.
your post is really good and full of courage for all pakistani mom's who are struggling with steps and kids .i am also a mom of 3 kids and want to pass this exam.studying on and off but never give exam as my all kids are under the age of 5.
i was following your post since you passed your step1 and wanted to know about step 2 too.i am really very happy to hear that u passed.i am telling everybody about u that how u did pass after 16 years.
i have one question about kaplan that did u read kaplan lecture notes for step2 or kaplan homestudy books?please answer me.i will really appreciate.
when r u planning to give cs ?
