Hi, I was wondering what ppl thought of the Kaplan pathology course + videos. I have gone through about 2/3 of it and am now beginning to wonder if I am wasting my time. While the video format is a good way to learn the histopathology slides, I notice that it does not contain certain points from Goljan Notes and BRS. For example: in discussing ovarian tumors, it does not get into anything beyond serous tumors, whereas Goljan and BRS jump all over the relationship between mucinous + pseudomyxoma peritoneii. It does not get into the whole unilateral, bilateral thing (serous being bilateral). After comparing it with BRS path on just this chapter, I conclude BRS Path has description of MANY more things NOT in Kaplan (Bartholin cysts, Lichen Planus Additionally, the physical diagnosis and pathophysiology integrated in Goljan (especially good for heart) are not there. The reason I even used Kaplan path was b/c in a post in the Exam Experiences section, someone said they got some ?s on there exam that were in Kaplan, but not in BRS. I seem to think BRS has a lot more stuff in it though. I have listened to Goljan audio, but wasn't planning on doing the Goljan notes for lack of time. Now it seems I may have to. I seemed to get the same feeling after doing the Micro Video course; I felt like I met have been better off just memorizing First Aid and memorizing Hi-Yield. Immuno and Phys were pretty good though. What have people thought about the Kaplan notes and video course in general (especially for Pathology). Is it sufficient, or do you need to supplement heavily?

hi, pathology is one of the topics where u may wanna get as many supplementations as u can, clearly kaplan pathology is no where near complete, u may wanna listen to dr.goljan, he did a great job in integrating diff. topics! for histopathlogy try webpath, tht along with the slides presented it robin's would be sufficient!

Thanks for the reply. After looking at this further, BRS also fails to mention key things in Kaplan (such as CA-125 marker), so I guess they both have their omissions. As you said, this is a subject where we need to supplement as much as possible. I agree Goljan audio is excellent. Thanks again.
