Hi there: Just wanna ask if I want to apply for 2006 match and I take Step 2 CK in December and then CS just few weeks later probably in late December or Early January, (passed Step I already with score 79), could there be any chances that I get match or post match?????I actually will be beyond my 5 years if I don't go for residency this year.......I was expecting good score in step I but its not the case so I want to study for CK for 4/5 months at least. Please advise me.....Thanks alot

Dr.sar, I have a friend who had 79 on Step 1 (2 attempts), 88 on Step 2, and she is 42 yo. She got NO interviews FIRST year she applied. Imagine her frustration. But she did not give up. She was able to find externship and got LOR, a couple of them, I think. And she matched in New-York on second year. So, I do not think that 5 years will be killing your chance. The low score will. So, try to prepare well for Step 2 and, I think, your money is on finding some place to get LOR. You can apply for this year, of course, even for the sport of it. Your CS report can be late though( they already promised delay in reporting). 5 years or 6 years does not matter much. There are plenty programs which do not have such strict graduation year bar. Good luck.
