In posterior dislocation of the hip

According to Kaplan Surgery page 17 , the leg is externally rotated

But many other website, they say the leg is adducted, internally rotated

Any one can help ?

To remeber the clinical situation of the posterior dislocation, Imagine the greater trochanter as being held in more or less in its Normal position by the attached muscle and forming the new verticle axis in which the femoral head may swing backward or forward. In post dislocation the femoral head and the whole lower limb lies medially and above hence there would be shortening and medial rotation.

In the same way anterior dislocation the limb is laterally rotated.

In fractures neck of the femur the limb is always laterally rotated
