Hi friends I have taken ck and waiting for my result.I just came back from a 3 week long vacation and planning to start preparing for cs from tomorrow.I just feel completely lost. I don't have any clue about this test.I have first aid and have registered for kaplan course from 18-21 Aug.My test is on Aug 31st.Wher should I start.Should I buy uw.My friend has given me a cd with cases from uw but she said there is some extra stuff when u buy the course.Should I start from First aid.I know all of u r busy but I'll arreciate ur reply.Thanks

great to hear from u... wonder if u rem me? i gave my CK same date as yours... was interacting with group . hey... if u taking kaplan course no need to buy UW.. again.. CD is enough... in myopinion, FA is most crisp and concise and complete... do that by the time u satrt Kaplan... also go through cases, in UW CD u ahve... rest most things u need will be taught to u in class...kap... ok then... hope this helps ... let me know if u have any more questions.

Hi Sonia,Thanks for the tips.My kids have just left for (first day of) school.I think I shud get everything togather and start studying.I'll start with FA.At least I wud get some idea wat this exam is..U said u took test arround the same time as me, did u get ur result.I am still waiting...Thanks and good luck

hi Hamidi i have just come nback after taking my CS.I FEEL I GOT CASES WHICH WERE IN usmle WORLD.. although i have kaplan, FA too... I kind off mixed everything... no i havent got my CK results till now... just waiting... hoping this sat... it should... oasis should get updaterd today night.,;..... lets see.... .. my CS... was kind of ok.... had two paediatric encounters... rest I can tell u later... just very tired... couldnt sleep last night.chalo then... TC,.. good idea to start FA... GL... sonia

Thanks sonia ,u r free now.What a feeling it must be.If I hadn't gone for vacation for a month I wud be taking my cs arround this time too.But that's OK my family(and I) needed it.I am sure u'll get the good news tonight .Let's keep praying for each other.
I have started FA.The wierd thing is doing step 1 or ck we learnt to narrow down our diagnosis to one to get the right answer now it is the other wAy round making a list of D/Ds.I am not doing so well right now connot think of even the 2nd D/D.But it's only my first day.I am sure it wud come along with time.Good luck for both ur results

u r right its great feeling... Thanks God its over,still have to give my step i will start thinking about it., week or so... want to just relax, yes u r right I AM WAITING FOR OASIS TO UPDATE.. I CHECKED THIS MOR IT STILL HAS NOT MAy be to inght. lets see. i know, dont worry about CS. enjoy it... just ahve fun... go through cases, start practising on ur children... have fun... if ur child is little old... just speak out to him her... this exam is all about actin u act, Sps act... who acts better? is what it is... I practiced with friend.. mainly on my husband... hes great actor... it was really fun... just last week i stresed out...my advice would be... dont memorise cases... read how is CS.. all about it...from all sources... then... make.... ur own... way... how u would want to proceed... neither kaplan, nor UW or FA or ... are fullly complete.... but knowing just one thoroughtly req... b/c caes are just 24 as in FA.. they make lots variation of it....
best way is say case of hearing loss..... think... read vitals what quest u would ask....then look up FA or UW... ok.... this is what i miss... mark it , go ahead...., Physical examination u will learn at Kaplan any ways... so no problem.... this will give u so much confidence... u will find ok... not reading case i ask 70% questions... go to know these five more... this exam all about communication skills.... ur empathy to ur pt( in ur mind think... u ahve child 10yr old sitting in front of u... how will u talk... thats it...) ok.... have fun... dear... u will ace it...

i meant i have to still think about taking step 3.... ok.... finished both steps... and cs... now comes biggest drill.... searching for residencies to apply....sonia

Thanks sonia,it is always nice to hear from u.Right now I am not liking cs but hopefully I'll get it.For step 1 and 2 u know the right ans is in front of u u just have to look for it.For cs u can miss asking an imp question easily.Anyways ther is noupdate for me either ,now I am strtin g to have doubts about me.I thought my planning was perfect.Left for vacation right after ckthinking that by the time I come back I wud have my result,but ther is a bigger Power above us making thing happen when it's right time.I wish and pary to pass cz I don't have the stamina to read everything again..

Relax Hamidi...
Just read for ur CS and dont worry. I would advise u to practice with somebody...even on ur children, or ur husband. Since i had a baby to take care of I would call my friend up after 9:30PM and finish by around 11:45-12:30 depending on how dedicated we were that day.so dont worry. TAkce care and good luck.

sonia.Yes I did pass ck(91/225).I am really happy and gratefull to God.Congratulations to u too
csprep,I have read some FA( b 4 case).Now I am watching PE videos from uw.I am not sure what I'll do next.Kaplan rep told me not to do anything b 4 class but I guess I'll do come cases from UW or FA.I am not sure which one is better.GL

Thnx hamidi..i'm reading UW cases too..i did flip thro the Kaplan n FA books,they give some useful info,have to read them sometime again.think i'll try n practice a few cases each day with my husband.i guess that's the best way to prepare coz everyone on the forum seems to be advising the importance of timed practice.GL to u too!
