Need advice regarding residency in ObGyn,
I am an IMG from India. Graduated in 1998, Worked as a tutor for medical students in a reputed medical school in india for 2 yrs. Then did a postgraduate diploma in OBGyn (2 yrs from india)and worked for 8 mon as a jun doc in ObGyn. Moved to UK and have not been working since March 2003.(Have done an observership post in UK). I have a score of 94/233 in step1. Awaiting step2cs results and taking ck in sept. Is there any chance of getting into a ObGyn residency in 2006. Is it worthwhile applying for 2006 match or should I work in UK for a year(to break the gap betn 2003 and now) and then apply for the 2007 match? What are my chances of getting into Int Med in case I donot get into OBGyn? To make things worse I absolutely have no research experience and have no US reference either. Am I aspiring for too much by wanting to get into ObGyn in the US? I am confused. Please advice.

from what i hear on forums,ob gyn for img is not outside reach.good luck.why dont u do mrcog too to keep ur options open?

No clue - haven't worked in GYN - don't even know the GYN coordinator here to ask what they think.

Thanks coolbabe76 and bbb for the response. If someone else knows anything about GYN residency please respond. Someone out there must be having some experience with GYN in the US. I have heard a lot about litigation and low professional satisfaction in OBGYN. But is it that bad that no one is interested in it at all? Someone please tell me why nobody talks much about this on the forum.
